Maa from Taare Zameen Par

This song made me cry while watching the movie Taare Zameen Par. It is perfect for the situation and along with a wonderful actor that Darsheel Safary is, it was a perfect situational song in the movie. Here is my try in singing Maa, a melodious, soulful song sung by the ever amazing Shankar Mahadevan. Thanks to Rosh and Santhosh Iyer for the karaoke track.

Song: Maa
Movie: Taare Zameen Par
Music: Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy
Original singer: Shankar Mahadevan
Sung by: Joe
Requested by: Roshni

    Hi Jo,
For a change looks like I’m the first to comment!
Very nice soft rendition- the feel is just in place. What a lovely movie it was and what brilliant acting by the kid!
Again, I’d like to draw your attention to some pronunciation errors: ‘hain’ and ‘main’ seem to be pronounced as ‘hein’ and ‘mein’. Also, it is “DhoonDha” and not “dhoonDha” – i.e the first ‘dh’ and the second ‘dh’ in the word have the same sound. The word means ’search’.

    Jo:

This song really had me in tears when I saw the movie. Ofcourse, I think partly is due to the fact that my son had just come along. So– guess I related to it a lot more, not to mention the major effect being brought about by Darsheel.

On an unrelated note, I really hope there are more movies like this which hits the spot

You have done well.. way to go :)

    >> Roshni: Thanks a lot Rosh. :-) It was a pleasure singing this beautiful song.

    >> Sindhuja: Thanks a lot for pointing out the diction issues Sindhu. When I listened to the original, I heard the “dh” in “dhoonDha” as different, hence that fault. :( I will take a note of “hain”, “main” etc. Thanks!

    >> Dhiraj: Thanks a lot Suraj. :-)

    >> Meera: Thank you Meera. :-) This movie has touched so many people.

    >> Anonymous: Thank you! :-)

Very well sung Joe. The feel was very good. Except for the pronounciations at couple of places, it was a very good rendition.

One of the few songs to have touched my heart in recent years …brings tears to my wife’s eyes everytime she hears it.

Great rendition ..your pronounciation errors are eclipsed by the splendid expressions in this rendition …

    Great job !
